Bill Simmons’ Trade Proposal Reunites Kevin Durant with Warriors

Is a reunion between Kevin Durant and the Golden State Warriors in the works, four years and two clubs later?

Following ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski’s story regarding Durant’s “frustrations” in Phoenix, Bill Simmons of The Ringer proposed a deal that would send Durant back to the Bay region.

According to Wojnarowski, Bradley Beal’s availability and their lacklustre supporting group are contributing factors to Durant’s annoyance.

On Christmas, Wojnarowski wrote, “You talk to people in Phoenix and around that organisation, they can feel the frustration with Durant.” Undoubtedly, [Bradley] Beal’s missed games have contributed to it in part. Durant, Beal, and Devin Booker were the three talents around whom this club was constructed. the lacklustre supporting group that results from the huge transactions of Bradley Beal and Durant, which completely destroyed the team and forced them to sign a plethora of minimum players just to make ends meet.

Simmons cycled through a series of possible landing sites for Durant before coming to a conclusion.

In his podcast, Simmons stated, “It’s really only Golden State.” Should things become very unpleasant, could he return to Golden State?.. This is a new team for Matt Ishbia. We’re good because we have Devin Booker and Kevin Durant, he said emphatically. Two of the top 12 players in the league are on our team. This will come together. I believe the owner will be too obstinate to ever give up on KD after less than a year.

However, the idea of Durant and Stephen Curry teaming up once more to try to write another chapter in the Warriors dynasty is tantalising.

Kevin Durant Retaliates Against Woj and Rejects Report

Durant criticised Wojnarowski’s allegation in an Instagram fan reaction that has since been removed.

Someone “feels that I am frustrated and turned into me being checked out mentally,” according to Woj. Durant said as much. “This is absurd; these individuals can fabricate stories about me and lie about my name, and you people would accept them. However, when my coaches and teammates speak well of me as a teammate, [you] choose to ignore it. laugh aloud (lol).

Durant joined the Warriors in 2016 and went on to win two MVP awards in the Finals. After a fruitless attempt to win three straight championships, which included an on-court incident with Green and an Achilles injury during the postseason, he left the Warriors in 2019.

Durant teamed up with James Harden and Kyrie Irving in an unfortunate Big 3 venture that flopped miserably in Brooklyn. Then, right before the trade deadline, he pushed his way to Phoenix.

Stephen Curry Is Angry About the Warriors’ Identity Crisis

Following a three-game losing streak at the end of 2023, the Warriors were eliminated from the Western Conference play-in race.

Curry expressed his dissatisfaction, arguing that Green’s erratic play and shifting lineups may potentially squander one of their final title opportunities.

Following the defeat, Curry told reporters, “It’s the nature of this team.” It has sort of come to pass over the course of the year. We’ve done a lot of testing. Some against their will. Some of us are trying to figure out who we are and how to play to our strengths, but we haven’t figured it out yet.

It’s getting harder to see the Warriors lineup change every time.

“It is undoubtedly frustrating. There are 32 games left. And any good club that is a legitimate competitor can often respond to that query. Thus, before it’s too late, we must undoubtedly reach that point, Curry cautioned.
