Possible Rangers trade scenario: Serie A team wants a revived Ridvan Yilmaz
Rangers star Ridvan Yilmaz has been linked to Verona of the Serie A while Josh Doig, his opponent at left back, has
been linked to Glasgow.
With the victory over Kilmarnock at Ibrox, the 22-year-old Turkish international left-back turned in what Philippe
Clement called his “best performance” to date. A strong performance at Celtic Park earned Ridvan the title of Man of
the Match during the match, and going into the January transfer window, Rangers were linked to multiple left-backs.
It’s been an amazing run of games for the former Besiktas left-back Borna Barisic, who is currently sidelined due to
injury, but there are now rumors that Italy may be calling.
Verona is looking for Ridvan Yilmaz
Reputable Italian reporter Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Verona of Serie A is considering Rangers player Ridvan
Yilmaz. Di Marzio states in an excerpt on his official website that Verona is considering Ridvan Yilmaz, and that left-
back Koray Gunter is in advanced talks to join Como.
“Verona is very active in these early hours of the January transfer market, with both incoming and outgoing
negotiations,” according to Di Marzio. The Turkish left defender Ridvan Yilmaz, who was born in 2001 and is a
member of the Glasgow Rangers, is the target of the yellow and blues.
“This season, he made 13 appearances and scored one goal between the national cup and the championship.
Conversely, Gunter is departing: Como has identified the 1994-born defender as a target, and the negotiations are far
advanced.
Rangers plan to switch up the left-back position
The connections between Rangers and Yilmaz, the Turkish international who has been heavily linked to a return to
Turkey in recent weeks, come at an intriguing moment.
The season’s contract for Ibrox mainstay Borna Barisic expires at the end of the current campaign, and it’s unclear if
he will be extended. Additionally, a number of fresh left-back options have been firmly connected to Rangers,
including Josh Doig, a Scotland and Verona star valued at £5.2 million.
Strangely, Doig, who relocated to Italy about the same period that the Turkish talent relocated to Glasgow, has
always been compared to Ridvan because of his stumbling first eighteen months in the city.
This will undoubtedly give the Verona connections with Ridvan Yilmaz a new depth, and if it’s not already published
elsewhere, a possible trade will probably be the buzz of the Steam community. The scenario is definitely worth
keeping an eye on, as Gianluca Di Marzio is widely regarded as a reliable source on transfer reports in Italy.
After the game against Kilmarnock, Rangers manager Philippe Clement discussed his team’s January transfer plans
and promised to be “very active” in the coming weeks.
Ridvan Yimaz, a left-back, was acquired by Rangers from Besiktas for an initial fee of £3.4 million. The player has
made 28 appearances for the Ibrox club.
