Jerry Jones discusses the ‘fuzzy’ finale of the Lions-Cowboys game.

It should come as no surprise that Dallas owner Jerry Jones chose not to criticize the refereeing during the Cowboys’ puzzling victory over the Detroit Lions in Week 17.

Jones’ remarks shouldn’t take attention away from Dallas’ primary defensive issue, which is its incapacity to stop teams when it matters most. The defense needs to become better, even standout linebacker Micah Parsons said after the 20-19 victory over Detroit (11-5). The Cowboys let the Dolphins to mount a 12-play, 64-yard drive that resulted in a winning field goal during their Week 16 loss to Miami, 22-20. The late-game blunders haven’t affected Dallas defensive coordinator Dan Quinn’s confidence, though. The Cowboys (11-5) are still in a fantastic position and have already secured a postseason trip. Should they triumph over the Washington Commanders (4–12) on Sunday, they would secure the second seed in the NFC.
