The New Orleans Saints upset the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 23–13 on Sunday at Raymond James Stadium, putting their dreams of making the playoffs on the line.
With the victory, the Saints’ record in the NFC South improved to 8-8, tying them for first place with Tampa Bay (8-8). To win the division, the Saints must defeat the Atlanta Falcons (7-9) the next week and hope that Tampa Bay falls to Carolina (2-14). It’s harder to get a wild card slot.
The Saints offence got off to a quick start, scoring their first touchdown of the year on their first possession. Meanwhile, the defence put pressure on the Bucs, limiting their first-half offensive yardage to 44 and forcing four turnovers.
