Rangers on red alert for another new transfer, contract set to expire – report
According to the Daily Record, Philadelphia Union manager Jim Curtin gave Kai Wagner a deadline to agree to a new deal,
putting the Rangers on high alert for another potential addition.
The 26-year-old is one of several possible players that the Ibrox clubs have identified who may potentially ease the Light Blues’ left-back difficulties,
the publication said on its website on Friday, December 29.
Rangers may be able to move on their desire and sign Wagner if Curtin’s confirmation that he had been offered a contract to prolong his tenure at the MLS club was let to lapse.
Marseille and many Bundesliga teams are keeping an eye on the fullback’s status,
so Philippe Clement will be anxious to ensure the 26-year-old’s future and stave off interest from numerous other European clubs.
Finish it off.
Rangers lack a decent left-back, and they cannot afford to leave Clement with just Ridvan Yilmaz as a backup on the left side of defence,
especially with Borna Barisic’s future in doubt ahead of the January transfer window.
The Turkish fullback hasn’t lived up to the hype since moving to Ibrox,
and even if he can produce strong performances when called upon,
he isn’t good enough to start every game if the Rangers are to win the Premiership.
Rangers should take a chance and sign Wagner on a free transfer to Glasgow when the transfer window opens,
even if he may not have much experience outside of the Major League Soccer.
Wagner is one of the best players in the American division.
With the loan arrival of Fabio Silva, the Light Blues have already kicked off their January transfer business early in the season,
but it appears that this is just the beginning. At Ibrox, there might be a lot of upheaval ahead once more.
