New twist in the Kolbe transfer saga
New twist in the Kolbe transfer saga
Following a hearing on October 9 over Kolbe’s move between the two teams,
Toulouse and Toulon were reportedly hit with financial penalties on Tuesday,
according to multiple sources in the French media.
In August 2021, the Springbok agreed to a lucrative contract with Toulon,
signing a buyout price of reportedly €1.8 million (ZAR36,9 million) from Toulouse.
Kolbe’s contract with the five-time European champion Toulouse still had two years left on it.
RugbyRama of Midi Olympique said that the France rugby disciplinary committee,
which specialises in pay cap violations,
looked into any violations in the transfer and concluded that both teams were at fault.
Toulon was fined €70,000, 000 (ZAR1.4 million) “for failure to comply with
the general obligation of transparency and cooperation,”
while Toulouse was fined €50,000 (ZAR1 million).
Every club has seven days to file an appeal.
