On Christmas Day, Philippe Clement sent his Rangers players to Auchenhowie for training, as reported by the Scottish Daily Mail.

The newspaper reported in its print edition [26 December, back page] that as well as training, numerous players will have their fitness assessed after injury worries.

Connor Goldson was one of those after his scare at Motherwell, with Ben Davies and Borna Barisic also set to be tested ahead of games against Ross County and Celtic.

Clement was already missing nine players through injury in his first-team squad before Goldson went down with a groin issue at Fir Park.

Having the defender, as well as Davies and Barisic available though after Christmas would be a massive boost to the boss and his plans at Ibrox.

Something just isn’t sitting quite right at the moment at Ibrox, with far too many injuries happening.

Clement himself was not too happy upon his arrival when the constant stream of problems never seemed to stop, as he looks to put together a backroom staff that could help that.

The Belgian mentioned recovery as one area that has to improve, and that is more vital than ever around the busy Christmas period, with the players learning that on Monday [25 December].

The games come thick and fast, and big ones too with the possibility of entering 2024 top of the pile in the Scottish Premiership, something that looked impossible a couple of months ago.

It would be great to have the likes of Goldson and Barisic back available though, with the team stronger with them in it at the moment, with so many problems going around.

Time will tell whether or not it was positive news from Auchenhowie yesterday with testing and recovery likely the main goal ahead of the New Year.
