Wiggins details relationship with ‘little bro’ Poole
Wiggins details relationship with ‘little bro’ Poole Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins developed a close
relationship while playing for the Warriors.
In his Thursday media appearance, Wiggins provided some insight into his friendship with the former Warriors guard, who will make
his Chase Center debut on Friday night after being traded to the Washington Wizards in the offseason.
Telling reporters, “That’s my little bro right there,” Wiggins said. It’s a pleasure to be with him. He worked hard, but he was also like a
silly little child, always making jokes. One of the NBA’s hardest workers that I have ever seen in my area. However, he’s a fantastic
young man and a great human, and he will succeed in this league.”
Wiggins disclosed that even though Poole is no longer a teammate, the two have maintained close communication
following the former’s exit.
“I was just texting him the other day, checking up on him, just seeing how he was doing and everything like that,
but we always chop it up,” Wiggins explained.
The All-Star forward then detailed what he looks forward to the most about Poole’s return to the Bay Area, citing his own experiences
as an NBA player playing against his former team for the first time.
“Just seeing him hoop, playing against him,” Wiggins said. “It’s always a fun game when you play the team you used to be on. When I
used to play the [Timberwolves] it was like that before, but as time goes on it becomes more normal. That first game back I know
there’s a lot of emotions and it’s a fun competitive game, so I’m looking forward to it.”
Upon being asked to name his favorite memory of the Warriors’ 2021–22 NBA championship run, in which Poole played a crucial role,
Wiggins quickly mentioned the team’s cohesiveness and great culture.
“Dude, the way the entire team was. The connection that we all have,” Wiggins said. “The way we were all gelling on and off the court,
supporting one another, it was a great environment to be a part of and a great environment to see.”
