Amid complaints about his attitude,

Jamie Carragher argues West Ham supporters can’t have their cake and eat it with David Moyes.

Many people outside of West Ham find it hard to accept that David Moyes’ future is in doubt.

And considering what Moyes has accomplished since rejoining the team four years ago, it’s understandable.

After a dismal Premier League season the previous year,

West Ham has finished sixth, seventh and eighth under Moyes.

Naturally, though, that was made up for when the team won its first trophy in forty-three years.

For the third year in a row, West Ham has also advanced to the round of 16 in the European Football Championship.

Carragher asserts that West Ham supporters are unable to eat their cake.

However, it is undeniable that a significant portion of West Ham supporters desire a more contemporary,

forward-thinking, and offensively-focused manager to replace the Scot when his contract expires at the end of the current campaign.

When the Hammers overcame Freiburg and Wolves with outstanding displays that combined flair and substance, many fans believed Moyes had finally realised how serious the team’s approach was after they were thrashed 5-0 by Fulham.

When the manager chose a weaker squad for the Carabao Cup quarterfinal against Liverpool,

the supporters became enraged.

And it just made the aggravation worse as it led to another terrible strategy and a 5-1 thud.

Jamie Carragher, a commentator for Sky Sports, is a great communicator on West Ham.

He respects the club’s fan base and traditions and is well-informed about the organisation.

Carragher, nevertheless, maintains that Moyes and West Ham supporters cannot share their cake.

In response to criticism regarding style, Carragher stated that while he acknowledges it,

realism has been demanded.

Regarding David Moyes, Carragher remarked,

“Look, the only slight frustration for West Ham might be that maybe

we can be a little bit more on the front foot or play a little bit better football.

Certainly when they look at some of the players they’ve got in the squad like (Mohammed) Kudus,

who’s new, and (Lucas) Paqueta.”

However, I’m not really in agreement.

It’s no secret that every fan has high expectations: you want your side to win,

you want fantastic football, and you want fantastic results.

However, as a manager, it might be challenging to satisfy every fan.

“I simply look back to when he was originally there;

I believe the team hired (Manuel) Pellegrini, and things went terribly wrong.

And I’m not sure it gets any better than that for West Ham to play football in Europe year after year.

Playing football on the European continent,

I should also mention winning a European trophy.

There are so many Premier League teams that would switch places with West Ham.

Supporters of West Ham would refute Carragher’s thoughtful and persuasive analysis by

citing teams that are winning while playing excellent football,

such as Aston Villa, Brighton, Spurs, and Bayer Leverkusen, to mention a few.
