When he brought Danny Ings to West Ham United in January of this year,

David Moyes committed a grave mistake.

Danny Ings, a 31-year-old who cost approximately £15 million when he was acquired by West Ham from Aston Villa,

has been a complete disaster for the Hammers.

It’s possible to argue that he will go down as one of our worst purchases ever.

This is according to Sky Sports.

With his legs gone and a system that really doesn’t work for him,

Ings isn’t talented enough to be playing Premier League football anymore.

It is really strange, to put it mildly,

that Moyes signed a striker who has historically performed best when partnered with another center-forward.

Since arriving to the London Stadium,

Ings has only scored three goals in 39 games for West Ham,

and he is yet to score in 17 appearances this season (Transfermarkt).

But more than just his goal total is a cause for concern,

and if Moyes continues to use the striker as a substitute, it could prove to be quite expensive.

David Moyes ought to never again start Danny Ings for West Ham.

This season, a very concerning statistic about Ings has surfaced.

This season, the former striker for Burnley, Southampton,

Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Southampton has made 13 appearances off the bench.

And in five of those contests—the away games against Bournemouth, Luton, Aston Villa,

Brentford and Liverpool at Anfield last night

the Hammers have given up goals nearly as soon as he takes the pitch.

As the adage goes, “defend from the front.”Indeed, I doubt that holds true for Ings.

When he’s on the pitch, it’s evident that the man has zero athleticism;

it feels like we’re playing with ten men.

When given the opportunity this season,

the 31-year-old hasn’t even seemed to give it his all; after our loss at Brentford last month,

he was the first player out the door without even acknowledging the away fans.

I know that all of this seems rather harsh. But in high-level sports, sentiment has no place.

His outrageous salary make it extremely difficult to move him during the January transfer window.

The fact that his current contract at the London Stadium only has 18 months left on it is the sole bright spot.

It doesn’t matter when he does depart, though.

When David Moyes is in charge of West Ham,

he cannot afford to give Danny Ings any playing time at all.
