‘Great Attitude and Demeanor!’ Ravens RB Keaton Mitchell After ‘Heartbreaking’ Injury

Keaton Mitchell, an undrafted rookie with the Ravens, has been a key component of the team’s league-leading running offense this year.

The Ravens are the NFL team with the highest rushing average, averaging 163.8 yards per game. However, given that Mitchell tore his ACL during Sunday night’s victory over the Jaguars, that might take a knock.

Following the game, Ravens coach John Harbaugh spoke about the “heartbreaking” injury and stated that Mitchell is doing well.

“I was just in there and we were talking,” Harbaugh said. “He’s just got a great attitude and demeanor about him. It’s a guy that you want to see do well. He deserves to do well.”

Mitchell was undrafted and signed by the Ravens in the offseason. His father, Anthony, played for the Ravens and won a Super Bowl for Baltimore.

Mitchell has been on a roll over the past six weeks, rushing for 480 yards and two touchdowns.

The offense will now need to rely more heavily on Justice Hill and Gus Edwards, who have combined for 976 yards and 14 touchdowns this season, to make up those numbers.

Quarterback Lamar Jackson is a major component of that top-ranked rushing offense, and as the Ravens get ready for their toughest test of the season—a game against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 16—he will need to maintain his ground game role.

At 89.4, the 49ers allow the third fewest ground yards per contest. The Ravens collectively still own the top seed in the AFC. To close out the regular season, though, they must defeat the 49ers, Dolphins, and Steelers.
