Now that NFL Week 15 has concluded, the NFC playoff landscape has changed as a result of the Philadelphia Eagles’ Monday Night Football loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Drew Lock led the Seahawks down the field in ten plays with 1:52 remaining in regulation, finding Jaxon Smith-Njigba for a stunning

29-yard reception to cap off a drive that won the game. The matchup on Monday night turned out to be crucial for both NFC clubs,

maintaining the Seahawks’ chances and drastically altering the Eagles’ placement.

Having said that, let’s look at the NFC playoff standings, as three teams have secured berths in the postseason.

With a dominating victory over their NFC West foe, the Arizona Cardinals, and their sixth consecutive victory on Sunday,

the 49ers secured their division and a postseason berth. This squad has demonstrated that

they are the greatest in the NFL overall, earning them the first seed. In addition to numerous outstanding

players on both sides of the ball, they have two deserving candidates for MVP in Christian McCaffrey and Brock Purdy.

When the Baltimore Ravens visit Santa Clara to play the 49ers on Monday Night Football on Christmas Day,

it will feature one of the conference’s top seeds. The Washington Commanders play at home after that,

while the Los Angeles Rams play at home to round out the regular season.

Even though they were routed by the Buffalo Bills 31-10, the Cowboys moved up to the second

seed and clinched a playoff berth, changing up the NFC playoff picture a bit.

They clinched before kickoff thanks to the Green Bay Packers and Atlanta Falcons losing on Sunday,

while they had to wait for the Eagles to lose on Monday night to move up to the second seed.

It is evident that Dallas performs significantly better at home than away, so securing the second seed is crucial for this club.

The issue with that is that they still have a difficult run of games to go.

Week 16 finds them traveling to Miami to take on the Dolphins; they then play Detroit

at home before concluding the season at Washington.

In Week 15, the Lions easily defeated the Denver Broncos, but they required assistance to secure a postseason trip for the first time since 2016.

The Lions will have to wait another week to finally fulfill years of anticipation as they needed the Seahawks

to lose on Monday in order to formally secure a postseason berth. But if they

defeated the Minnesota Vikings in Week 16, they would not only secure the division title,

but also win one for the first time since 1993. That would make it even sweeter.

They have two home and away games left against the Vikings this season; in Week 17, they travel to Dallas.
