In light of rumours that Schalke has launched the first serious attempt to sign Mathias Kvistgaarden,

a striker target, Celtic may need to move quickly if they hope to sign him.

The need for quality has been highlighted by Rangers captain Callum McGregor and Brendan Rodgers,

who is searching for upfront additions next month.

Recent losses have allowed Rangers to re-enter the title fight.

While Hyeongyu Oh doesn’t appear to be ready to take the lead right away,

Kyogo isn’t performing as well as he did under Ange Postecoglou.

Kvistgaarden, a striker from Denmark, has long been connected to

rumours that Celtic’s summertime £4.1 million deal was turned down.

The 21-year-old has seven goals and seven assists in 21 games this season,

and it has been widely speculated that they could return to the table in January with a stronger offer.

The Danish media believes he will soon go on to larger things.

However, according to Football Scotland, Schalke was the one to initiate contact with him.

They allegedly filed a formal inquiry after being impressed by many scouting missions in November.

Polish striker Szymon Wlodarczyk has also been mentioned as a potential alternative for Celtic.

In his own country, the 20-year-old is considered “the next Lewandowski.”

He was first mentioned as a target in January of last year.

However, he has since joined Sturm Graz,

and despite having a scoring-rich debut in Austria,

the same report claims that his current valuation is £15 million,

which puts him well out of Celtic’s winter budget.

In January, Celtic looks for more than just forwards.

Moving forward, it is believed that Greg Taylor will face competition,

with talented Portuguese left-sider Tiago Araujo being the top target.

The Hoops are rumoured to be keeping a close eye on him,

but any offer may need to be aggressive given his significant role

in Estoril Praha’s incredible form comeback.

After just one victory in nine games,

they appeared doomed for relegation,

but they have already won five straight,

with Araujo contributing every minute of a 1-1 draw with Famalicao over the weekend.
