Head coach Unai Emery of Aston Villa addressed the media following his team’s 2-1 victory over Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.

After halftime, Alex Moreno and Ollie Watkins completely change the course of the match,

with Keane Lewis-Potter scoring the first goal late in the first half. Emi Martinez tried to lift Neal Maupay

off the ground by his shirt, which sparked an argument between the two sets of players.

Boubacar Kamara was sent off for raising his hand on Yegor Yarmolyuk.

Tempers appeared to flare after Watkins celebrated his goal in front of a Brentford fan who had been abusing one of the striker’s

family members in the first half. Here’s every word which Emery said after full-time…

“I’m not entirely sure. I want to evaluate the first and second halves of the game as well as our

management of the game following the red card. Then, since I’m not entirely sure what happened to Ollie at the end of the game, I also

want to analyze the events involving Duran, Martinez, Zaniolo, and Zaniolo.

“Yes, we behave wonderfully, but perhaps not so well now. I would like to elucidate to the players

how we might respond under duress in situations where they may have provoked us.”

Have you asked what caused Watkins’ anger?

“No. I didn’t know who scored. I thought it was Konsa! I can explain everything I watched and overall I can do the analysis but not deeply.”

Do you think both clubs will get charged by the FA?

“The match was very tight. I think we were under pressure and trying to control our mind. The more relevant in the match is how we played and how we played in the match.

“More or less, I think something could happen could happen under the moment we had today, but I want to control the things I don’t want to have in my team. They are small things, small things.”

What did you make of Martinez’s behaviour?

“It is the same, but in 100 per cent trying to blame the action, but the opponent’s behaviour wasn’t very good.

I am going to speak with Emi, but the most important thing was that he played

very well and he did a fantastic match. Of course, controlling different circumstances

as well we had to be clever in our mind and trying to control it.”
