In the lead-up to Saturday’s 3pm kickoff, assistant John Kennedy filled in for Brendan

Rodgers and gave us some updates on some of the team’s most important players.

The manager has two important players back in the running for a spot in the team for tomorrow’s match,

with Tomoki Iwata being the sole injury doubt following the Champions League success.

Celtic squad boosted for Hearts match

Kennedy verified that Cameron Carter-Vickers and Daizen Maeda, who have been working

with the team at Lennoxtown all week, might play against the Jam Tarts.

Considering he has only been out of action for about a week, Carter-Vickers is probably the most likely starter.

Maeda has been a longer-term absence so Rodgers may well decide to expose him to football

off the bench initially, with opportunities to start against Livingston, Dundee, Rangers and St Mirren on the horizon.

There could be a chance for Paulo Bernardo to get more match action after his

substitute appearance against the Dutch. Iwata hasn’t been spotted in training over the last

couple of days and limped out of the mid-week clash in the first half.

Luis Palma is, thankfully, available despite being substituted off.

In the event that Iwata is unable to play, David Turnbull and Odin Holm are other potential starters;

Reo Hatate is still many weeks away from playing again.

The remaining eleven should choose themselves, with Rodgers likely to select his strongest lineup.

Next weekend marks the start of the holiday season, so the team will have a week to recuperate.
