Following the team’s Thursday tie with Zrinjski in Bosnia, Unai Emery has disclosed that

Youri Tielemans and Leon Bailey are both doubtful to play against Brentford on Sunday.

He is also awaiting word on which players will be healthy enough to start at the Gtech Community Stadium.

With a 1-0 victory over Tottenham at the end of the previous month,

Villa climbed up into the top four in their first six Premier League games played in the capital under Emery.

Three days apart last week, Villa defeated Man City and Arsenal at home to

win both of the season’s top two games after drawing at home against Bournemouth.

Those victories helped build an eight point cushion to sixth place, meaning Villa will spend Christmas inside the top five.

They face a Brentford side who have lost four of their past five Premier League games, as many as in their previous 18.

The Bees lost their encounter against Sheffield United last weekend,

and they will play Villa on Sunday without key forward Bryan Mbeumo. Thomas Frank’s team

has won three of the last four games at the Gtech Community Stadium despite their recent dismal performance.

“Today is a really difficult day for us to know how we can face on Sunday against

Brentford because some players are a bit tired and some players have injuries,”

Emery remarked when asked about the team’s latest developments.

We shall find out tomorrow how they will be on Sunday and whether or not they will be available.

All we can do is rest, thus it is crucial that we do so. We will get the match ready tomorrow.

We are driven and ready for the battle that lies ahead on Sunday.

The players are mentally prepared because they know how we can perform on Sunday and

that we may be able to maintain our strong position in the standings.

“Both Tielemans and Bailey are questionable. Olsen is not in. With Traore out,

Lucas Digne and Douglas Luiz are the two players who are suspended. We will wait till

tomorrow to play the players from yesterday.”
