Sean Dyche has managed to get the Blues out of the Premier League relegation zone despite their 10-point deduction but the financial nightmare might only just be beginning at Goodison Park.

On December 12, The Daily Mail said that 777 Partners’ inability to finish their takeover anytime soon puts the Toffees’ administration at risk.

Ex-Everton defender Keown has praised his former club for doing well in the face of adversity but has added an extreme take on the Blues’ financial plight.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Friday (11:11am), Keown said: “Everton need to more points to get back because they’re not by any means clear of the danger. They’re just four points out of the relegation zone.”

TalkSPORT host Sam Matterface then said: “They’re not clear of danger but bear in mind they had 10 points taken off them, it’s a pretty good effort to get to where they have got.”

Keown then continued: “There’s been talk of liquidation this week, there are a lot of things these Everton players are having to deal with.”

Matterface added: “But they’re dealing with it on the pitch very well.”

Liquidation? Seriously?

Has Keown got his wires crossed here because we haven’t seen anything about liquidation?

We’re not saying it’s 100 per cent impossible but this simply isn’t going to happen to Everton Football Club.

If the club goes into administration, they have a lot of assets to sell off in order to balance the books. Yes, it will hurt the club massively but it won’t put them in a position where they cease to exist.

There’s a £500million stadium being built, remember?

If the club goes into administration, another points deduction will be served and due to the potential January firesale, relegation will become very much a possibility.

But 777 should still be progressing with their takeover and if, for whatever reason, that doesn’t go ahead, someone else will come in to buy Everton from Farhad Moshiri for a bargain basement price.

Keown is being extreme here. We’d like to know where he heard this from.
