Rangers news bulletin as Alfredo Morelos return door opened by agent while pitch to Mason Holgate made

The Colombian is on the lookout for a new club after his Santos contract was ripped up.

After a terrible stint with Santos, Alfredo Morelos, a former star of the Rangers, is eager to return to Europe, according to his agent.

And it will only fuel the rumors that the frontman’s return to Ibrox may be imminent given Philippe Clement’s severe injury problems as the January transfer window draws near.

Santos officially activated Morelos’ release clause and will depart the illustrious club after they were demoted for the first time in their 111-year history last week, having managed only three games during an injury-plagued stay in Brazil.

However, some Rangers supporters have raised the possibility of the Colombian returning to the Scottish Premiership just six months after the player’s release from the team.

And when he revealed the 27-year-old’s next move, agent Martin Camagno left the door open.

Speaking to Match following Morelos’ release, he said: “Plans for the winter – a return to Europe. A move to Russia would be absolutely wonderful.”

“Middlesbrough are in urgent need of defensive cover and Holgate at 27 has got Premier League experience.

Wherever he goes, Everton will want to see him playing, but the opportunity to join Glasgow Rangers might prove too big a draw than Middlesbrough or Watford.”
