After defender Cameron Carter-Vickers was replaced at halftime in

Wednesday night’s 4-1 victory over Hibernian,

Celtic is awaiting his return.

At the half, Nat Phillips took Carter-Vickers’ position. After the game,

manager Brendan Rodgers acknowledged that he had felt a hamstring problem and

had been pulled off as a precaution.

The Celtic manager is currently awaiting word on his recovery in time for Sunday’s

Scottish Premiership trip to Ayrshire.

News about the Celtic team ahead of Kilmarnock

When asked about the team’s situation on Friday afternoon, Rodgers replied,

“They’re in a good place,” to Sky Sports. Just a quick check on one or two.

We shall see how Cameron Carter-Vickers, who seemed off, turns out.

Other than that, nobody new is joining the team.

The Celtics manager continued, “We’ll assess Cameron over the next couple of days,”

during his press conference.

Even though he didn’t pull his hamstring,

we still had to get an MRI to make sure everything was well.

All we can do is wait for the outcome of that.

He stands a chance to play if the scan yields no results.

Fortunately, other than the uncertainty surrounding the USA international

there are no new difficulties.

Carter-Vickers should be rested even though missing a game would not be ideal

if it helps him avoid a more serious injury.

Interestingly, he did not appear in any of the training photos that were released today.

Liam Scales and Nat Phillips are contenders to start in the starting lineup.

Maik Nawrocki and Gustaf Lagerbielke’s training contributions have also been acknowledged by Rodgers.

If Carter-Vickers is also going to be rested for the midweek match,

it might not make much sense to bring in Nawrocki for the forthcoming

UEFA Champions League match at home against Feyenoord.

After leaving Legia in the summer, fans have been itching to see more of him,

but injuries have seriously impeded his development.

At this time, it appears more likely that Rodgers will continue his defensive constancy through the winter break,

after which everything may be reviewed.
