Alan Hutton, a former full-back for Aston Villa, is joining us as our exclusive columnist. He will provide his opinions on the most talked-about topics at Villa Park every week.

Aston Villa are likely to sell Leander Dendoncker if an acceptable offer is made for him in January, according to Alan Hutton.

The 28-year-old Dendoncker has only made nine appearances in all competitions this season, and his four Premier League games have barely totaled four minutes.

On November 16, Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri revealed that Unai Emery no longer had Dendoncker in mind for Villa Park, and the 32-year-old international would like to leave the West Midlands club for a Premier League outfit.

It is understood that the Villans’ hierarchy is working on a move for the former Wolves midfielder and while Galatasaray are keen on him, the feeling isn’t mutual due to his desire to stay in England’s top flight.

Hutton believes a team like Everton could be well-suited for Dendoncker.

When asked if he thinks Villa should sell Dendoncker for the right price in January, Hutton told

Villa News: “Yes, I would.

I don’t like to call him a stop-gap because he’s a good option and he’s a guy who’s been used in European competition so he’s obviously got ability.

But I just don’t see him forcing his way into this Villa squad at this moment in time.

I think they’re looking to move forward and I don’t think he’s the answer right now.

“If they can make money on him and teams like Everton are interested, if the money’s right then they’ll look into it.”
