According to Sean Dyche, Dele Alli is “feeling great” at Everton. The former Tottenham player

might return to action over the hectic holiday season.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The 27-year-old midfielder’s last appearance was on February 26 during a dismal loan stint at Besiktas.

He hasn’t played in a competitive match in over nine months.

Since switching from Spurs to Everton in January 2022, he has only started one game for the club.

Lately, a thigh issue has kept him out of action as he had to get surgery.

WHAT DYCHE SAID ABOUT DELE

But at Goodison Park, Dele is making his way back into the mix. Toffees manager Dyche responded,

“He is going well,” when questioned about the 37-cap England international.

Although he is practicing football-related drills on the grass with the instructors of sports science and fitness,

he does not yet have the freedom to come and participate with us. I hope he gradually

becomes more and more integrated into the first team squad over the course of the next week. He has a little ways to go.

He needs a gaming program because he hasn’t played with us in a while,

but he would be really happy to play with us again because he hasn’t been lucky.

When he was supposed to join us the final time, perhaps 12 or 13 weeks ago, he was quite unfortunate

with the harm that was done. The good news is that he is feeling well and that things are starting to calm down.

“Yes, I’m feeling great,” he replied when I saw him earlier.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Dele’s contract with Everton expires at the end of the 2023–24 season, therefore he may be

eligible for free agency the following summer. By then, the Toffees might not have paid for him at all,

since the first installment of his intricate £30 million ($38 million) contract with Spurs isn’t

expected to be paid until he makes seven more appearances.

WHAT NEXT FOR DELE?

Given that Everton has seven games left before the year ends, including a home match in the

Premier League against Newcastle on Thursday and a match in the Carabao Cup

quarterfinals against Fulham on December 19, he may have the opportunity to push closer to that record.
