Fraser Forster’s modest hopes of returning to Celtic have ended with his signing of a new contract deal with Tottenham.

The England international’s contract was set to expire at the end of the current campaign,

allowing him to start negotiations with potential suitors the following month.

After spending three years in Glasgow,

Joe Hart is scheduled to leave in the summer,

therefore it’s thought that Celtic is looking for a new goalie.

Throughout his four prior years at Parkhead,

Forster was a standout player. In the renowned 2-1 Champions League victory over Barcelona in 2012,

he put on the best goalkeeping performance Lionel Messi has ever seen. The massive shotstopper,

known as La Gran Muralla by the Spanish media,

was the sole motivator for the ten-man Celts to win the League Cup Final in 2019 as

he masterfully defeated Rangers at Hampden.

Forster, who is 35 years old,

is still considered to be one of the greatest goalkeepers in Celtic’s contemporary history,

and some supporters harboured optimism that his availability in

the summer would result in an incredible comeback to Glasgow.

However, the former Southampton and Newcastle United goaltender

has extended his contract with Spurs until 2025, putting an end to any rumours about his future.

Forster, who filled in for No. 1 Guglielmo Vicario this season,

has only made one appearance under former Hoops manager Ange Postecoglou,

but he says he’s enjoying life in London.

“I’ve loved being at the club from the moment I got here.

We have a fantastic squad, and I’m delighted to extend my stay,” he stated.

Working with the new manager has been great.

It’s fantastic to be a part of that and support the club in any way I can.

Ange has joined the team, and everyone adores him.

You can see the energy in the stadium and what we’re producing.
