TRAGEDY IN SMOKY MOUNTAINS: TWO MISSING TOURISTS FOUND DECEASED IN GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK

Gatlinburg, TN – A devastating conclusion to an extensive search operation.

 

Missing persons case turns tragic.

 

Tourists, Emily Wilson, 28, and Ryan Thompson, 32, reported missing during a hike in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, have been found deceased.

 

“The investigation is ongoing, but our thoughts are with the families,” said Park Ranger Chief, Steve Kloster.

 

 

Remains discovered.

 

 

Wilson and Thompson’s bodies were found in a remote area near Laurel Falls.

 

 

“Terrain and weather conditions hindered recovery efforts,” said Tennessee Bureau of Investigation spokesperson, Leslie Earhart.

Autopsy pending.

 

 

Causes of death unknown; investigation continues.

 

“We mourn the loss of two innocent lives,” said Tennessee Governor, Bill Lee.

 

Community pays respects.

 

Gatlinburg residents gather for a candlelight vigil tonight at 7 PM.

 

A memorial service will be held at the Gatlinburg Convention Center.

 

Donations in their memory can be made to the “Smoky Mountains Search and Rescue Fund.”
