Rangers’ lone loss under Philippe Clement occurred against Old Firm rivals Celtic at the end of December, but they still have a game in hand and are behind the Bhoys by just three points in the Scottish Premiership.

The former Celtic manager gave his assessment on Rangers’ chances of defeating their Old Firm opponents to win the league, saying that Clement has done a “terrific” job in Glasgow.

He added on Monday, February 5th, on the PLZ Football Show, “I agree that he has done a terrific job.” I concur that Rangers still need improvement. Although they have been incredibly consistent, he wants to see progress in a few other aspects of the team.

“However, there remains one unanswered question: they lost at Celtic Park, and I thought their performance was lackluster. Although they were able to rejoin the game, it may have easily gone against them at that time.

Lennon responded, “Celtic,” when asked who would win the league. It’s going to be tight. It will most likely come down to the two games and the resulting psychological effects. Now it’s up to the players.”

Point to prove for Rangers

After a terrible start to the season under Michael Beale, Rangers have performed incredibly well to stay in the title battle this season. They have significantly closed the gap with Celtic and have a great chance of winning the championship.

Lennon continues to sound, predictably, very certain that his old side will finish the job, but he must be fretting a little.

It has been especially noteworthy considering the injuries the Gers have suffered this season. Ryan Jack has also been a major loss, while Abdallah Sima, Kemar Roofe, and Danilo are all out of the attack.

Rangers, however, have a chance to equalize the score with Celtic in the game they currently have left to play; the teams will next play one other in April. If Lennon is right to suggest that the Old Firm matches will determine the league, then the expectation will be that Clement will defeat Brendan Rodgers the next time around.
