Texas’s Arlington Jerry Jones, the general manager and owner of the Dallas Cowboys,

was present at AT&T Stadium on Sunday afternoon when it was announced that the Cowboys’

home field will host nine World Cup games in 2026, including one semifinal match.

The World Cup Final not going to the group led by Jones and other Dallas officials was “disappointing,

” but the spectacle of hosting more matches than any other host city for the event electrified everyone

in AT&T Stadium on Sunday about what’s in store for two summers from now.

After taking care of World Cup matters, Jones gave a brief speech on the Cowboys’ upcoming

hiring of a new defensive coordinator following Dan Quinn’s departure from Dallas to assume

the position of head coach.

“We’re doing interviews,” Jones declared. In essence, we’re organizing meetings.

We are starting interviews at nine a.m. [Monday]. I won’t get into who we are interviewing.”

Jones stated that he does not currently “have a timeline” for the announcement of a new coordinator,

but he did state that he does not see head coach Mike McCarthy entering his last year of employment

as a potential roadblock to hiring a competent coordinator.

“I don’t anticipate that being an issue at all,” he stated. “They will be the Cowboys’ coordinator if they accept

the position. They would be examining that immediately along with everything that goes with it.

As the person who recently departed is a head coach, so prospective coaches are aware that

there is a possibility to hold that position somewhere.”

Quinn has been “an outstanding coach” for the Cowboys, according to Jones, who first praised Quinn in Mobile,

Alabama earlier this week. Now that it has been confirmed that Quinn will be heading to Washington,

Jones has added further praise for his well-deserved elevation.

“I felt ultimately two years ago that Dan wanted a head coaching job,

so it doesn’t surprise me that he’s landed a head coaching job,” Jones stated.

“I couldn’t look at a crystal ball and see what direction that might go back then,

but it doesn’t surprise me – the fact that he’s got head coaching credentials [and] been to a Super Bowl.”

Quinn is not the only former coordinator the Cowboys will face twice a season in 2019 becaus

e Kellen Moore was recruited by the Philadelphia Eagles to serve as their new offensive coordinator.

Regarding the subject, Jones stated that things would continue to run as usual and that it is hard to ignore past instructors.

Jones remarked, “Well, they know us pretty well don’t they?” while he laughed a little.
