The hoops manager Brendan Rodgers denied that his side had given Rangers

the lead in the Premiership title race following their dismal draw at Pittodrie,

insisting that his team is still in a fight with a long way to go.

Rangers could draw level with the champions at the top of the table

if they beat Livingston at Ibrox later in the day and then won their game in hand against Ross County.

But Rodgers isn’t concerned about his squad losing momentum and being caught up by their opponents just yet.

“Have we given the initiative to the Rangers? “No, not at all,” Rodgers replied.

“Listen, we still have a long way to go and many points to battle for.

We simply need to focus on ourselves and achieve greater consistency.

“Prior to the break, we had strong performances with speed in our game. We need that in every game.

“Last week, we weren’t particularly terrific but won. We weren’t too excellent today and ended up drawing.

“It’s just about regaining a consistent level since we’re losing too many points.

“I would never suggest that a point here is a positive outcome, always come here to win, just as I did as Celtic manager.

“I always plan to do it,can never say I’ll take the point; I expect to win.

“We were fine in the first half and generated opportunities, but we simply needed to be more clinical.

“You could see Aberdeen’s results hadn’t been great, and their confidence was possibly low,

so we needed to take advantage of that but didn’t.

“In the second half, we were not aggressive enough.” When playing against that type of squad,

you must be good on the first, second, and third balls before settling the game. You must also stop counterattacks.

“For the goal we lost, we were careless with our pass, and they broke through with too much ease.”

We did not defend what their striker is greatest at,he wants to come in on his left foot.

“So that was really disappointing.”
