After having bids rejected already, the club now proposes cash plus player on deadline day

Galatasaray are preparing to make a second bid for Rangers left-back Ridvan Yilmaz on Deadline Day, according to Fotomac.

The Turkish news outlet writes on its website (1 February) that the Istanbul club wants to sign the Ibrox defender before Thursday’s 11:30pm deadline.

After previously having bids rejected, the club is now likely to increase their offer and have a contract agreed by

Rangers before completing the transfer, with Ridvan receptive to the move.

“Negotiations have been going on with Glasgow Rangers for a while for Rıdvan Yılmaz,

Galatasaray’s strongest left-back candidate,” they said in a statement.

“Galatasaray made a bid of 3 million euros to purchase Rıdvan Yılmaz, but it was not accepted.

“Cimbom is likely to raise the price and close the transaction.

Rıdvan, who aspires to be a regular member of the European Championship squad,

sees playing for the yellow-red team as advantageous.

Rangers just cannot allow Ridvan to leave the club so late in the transfer window,

especially given the collapse of the Jefte deal.

The club was definitely interested in bringing in a fresh left-back option,

with Borna Barisic’s contract expiring in the summer,

and Philippe Clement does not appear to be completely convinced with Ridvan.

However, the Turkey international has been terrific in recent weeks,

and letting him go now only seems like a retrograde move, especially with no replacement in the pipeline.

His current form has pushed him over Barisic as the first-choice left-back at Ibrox,

and there is little reason for him to be dropped if he continues, ensuring he will get the regular games he desires.

Unless it’s an offer the club can’t reject, the deal should be closed at this point, and no one should answer the phone.
