“Told…” – Sky journalist says Rangers could now make another deadline day signing after Cortes
In addition to the anticipated arrival of Lens winger Oscar Cortes, Rangers manager Philippe Clement
may make another deadline-day signing on the same day.
Rangers bring Clement back with a number of January trades.
The Gers board has already rewarded Clement with several new acquisitions as they attempt to
unseat Old Firm rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership and reclaim their position as the dominant team
in Scottish football. To expand the Belgian’s offensive options, Fabio Silva completed a loan transfer from Wolves,
and highly-regarded defender Mohamed Diomande followed him to Ibrox.
Upon signing Diomande, Clement stated, “Everyone is really pleased because he was one of the
biggest prospects in Scandinavia and there were a lot of teams interested in him.”
Although he is still a young player, he has a great deal of experience. We had a lot of conversations about
the idea because he was so interested in it. I am thrilled that the club was able to make the long-term deal,
as it is not something that can be easily done in January. He has a great deal of versatility and technical proficiency.
“The club has worked hard to facilitate this transfer because it involves everyone in the
club—not just me, Nils [Koppen], and the scouts.”
As Cortes completes his move to Glasgow, the Scottish Premiership giants are,
as has been widely reported, finishing their third signing of the January window.
The 20-year-old, who struggled to get playing time in Ligue 1 prior to his impending arrival with Rangers,
did manage to score once and provide an assist in four league substitute appearances for Lens this year.
According to The Daily Record, the deal will begin as a six-month loan with the possibility to become
permanent this summer. However, Cortes might not be their only last-minute addition.

According to reports, Rangers are making every effort to acquire a new striker before tonight’s deadline of 11 p.m., as Sky Sports writer
Michael Bridge has revealed what he knows about the team’s transfer ambitions.
Rangers may sign another player on deadline day following Cortes.
The reporter told GiveMeSport that Rangers may sign a player on deadline day following Cortes, and his “source” said that’s definitely
possible.
We’ll have to wait and see. Another insider informed me that there might be one more. However, I believe Clement would be happy if
he could add four players, as I don’t believe he inherited the world’s best team, but rather guys who were added in the summer but
haven’t performed well.
They were in for left-back Jefte from APOEL to, but as per Fabrizo Romanzo that deal has now collapsed.
