Despite the latest 10-point deduction, former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness has maintained that Sean Dyche is the “right man” to attempt and steer the team away from relegation danger.

The 66-year-old disclosed that while he was CEO of Villa Park,

he attempted to lure Dyche to Aston Villa. He was CEO of Goodison Park from 2004 to 2009.

After taking over for Frank Lampard earlier this year,

Dyche led Everton to victory over Bournemouth on the last day of the 2022–23 season,

preventing the team from going down.

The former manager of Burnley is looking at yet another relegation battle this season

following their largest-ever 10-point deduction for violating financial fair play regulations.

Before the punishment, Everton was performing well, winning four of their twelve games and drawing two.

They are currently five points below Luton Town, who are in 17th position in the Premier League,

and share bottom of the table.

The next Saturday, December 2, is Dyche’s team’s matchup with Nottingham Forest.

Sean Dyche is the manager you want in a situation like this, according to Wyness,

who made this exclusive statement to Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast.

He is someone I greatly respect.

As we were in the Championship, I spoke with him in an attempt to attract him to Aston Villa.

My opinion of Sean is really positive.

After Roberto Di Matteo left, Steve Bruce entered in his place.

Sean seems like the ideal choice for Everton. But who knows with injuries and other circumstances that crop up during the season?

The games that Everton lost at the beginning of the season,

especially against Luton, could come back to haunt them greatly.

Moving forward, we truly need to exercise caution at this point.

“I’m also concerned that the length of the appeals procedure will cause the opponents and Everton to adopt different perspectives.

Teams’ mindsets and strategies are severely impacted if the appeal drags out until the end of the season and nobody knows if an additional five points will be added.

Because clubs will arrange themselves differently in an attempt to get the desired result,

it compromises the league’s integrity.

“The Premier League has put themselves in a really concerning situation.”
