Glasgow Rangers are set to finalize the loan signing of Oscar Cortes soon,

with the transfer deadline quickly approaching, according to Football Scotland.

The outlet announced on their website early on the morning of January 31 that a deal for the teenage winger would be completed “over the next 24 hours”.

The 20-year-old is set to arrive from Lens with the option of making the transfer permanent,

with Philippe Clement describing him as the “perfect” acquisition following a devastating injury setback to Brighton loanee Abdallah Sima.

Rangers signed Fabio Silva on loan and Mohamed Diomande on a permanent basis this month,

but they hope to complete several more transactions before the transfer season closes.

To the wire.

Cortes and his age-mate, Brazilian full-back Jefte,

appeared to be on the verge of joining Ibrox for most of the last week of the January transfer window.

However, with the deadline of 11 p.m. on February 1st,

Rangers are now under pressure to complete their remaining business.

With prospective departures still on the table, as well as Jose Cifuentes, there is a lot to do in a short period of time to leave the squad as strong as it can be for a title race.

The offensive areas have been heavily hampered by unfortunate luck on the injury front, with Danilo and Kemar Roofe also out, but the Sima blow is possibly the worst of all.

The Senegal international’s absence will leave a significant void for Cortes to cover if the Colombian completes his transfer within the predicted timeframe.

However, the situation on the striker front has become eerily silent following considerable rumors around Lawrence Shankland coming into January, with the possibility of Cyriel Dessers departing emerging instead.

In other Rangers news, one first-team ace apparently wants to go before the deadline but refuses to sell.
