Edgar, host of the Heart & Hand podcast, expressed his excitement after Rangers rejected a last-ditch transfer bid from a Premier League club to capture Jack Butland.

STV News reported on Tuesday night (30 January) that Nottingham Forest had tabled a bid for the Ibrox goalkeeper,

which was rejected, with Rangers saying they would not accept any offers before Thursday’s deadline.

And Edgar stated on his Heart & Hand podcast X account that the Gers made an excellent move in rejecting bids for the Englishman, citing his “vital” importance to the club and Phillipe Clement.

He wrote, “Good to hear we’ve rejected a bid from an English team (Forest by the sounds of it) for Jack Butland. He is critical to our chances for victory this season.

“I’m pretty confident the Rangers have made it known that they will not accept offers for Jack.A decent old ‘hands off’ warning!”

Statement

Unless they offer £30 million or more, Rangers would not consider moving the former Crystal Palace and Manchester United goalkeeper.

Butland has been absolutely faultless this season, and the Gers have made it clear to interested parties that the 30-year-old is staying at Ibrox for the long term.

Butland is without a doubt Michael Beale’s best signing during his time, and he has seamlessly transitioned into Allan McGregor’s gloves,

making him perhaps the top goalkeeper in the Scottish Premiership.

The Englishman is not only Rangers’ first name on the teamsheet,

but he is also an important player in the dressing room and on the field, and his expertise has immediately boosted the club’s standing under Clement.

He has been a constant presence in the SPFL this season, winning man of the match in several games, including the Europa League, and playing a significant role in the team’s success.

If Rangers had accepted the offer, it would have been impossible to replace him, thus Light Blues fans have every reason to enjoy this news.
