Celtic exit mooted, Rangers winger swap, Beck is back, McKenna seals move – Scottish transfers
The winter transfer window ends on Thursday at 11.30 p.m. The following are the top stories making headlines this evening:
Cardiff wants to sign Celtic’s midfielder
Cardiff City, an English Championship team, has reportedly expressed interest in David Turnbull, a midfield player for Celtic. Under
current manager Brendan Rodgers, the 24-year-old, whose contract at Celtic Park expires this summer, has not been a regular starter
and could be moving before the transfer window closes. Cardiff, who are presently ranked 14th in the English football league’s second
division, are anticipated to increase their transfer activity over the next 48 hours.
Matondo and Mainz are connected
German reports state that Bundesliga team Mainz is interested in Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo. The Welshman may be on the move
on loan, according to Bild, after Mainz officials recognized him as a possible addition. Christian Heidel, the team’s current director of
sport, reportedly introduced the player to Schalke in the past. Oscar Cortes, a wide player for Lens, is close to joining Rangers, and his
arrival could allow Matondo to move.
Rangers converge on the pair
Rangers are still negotiating to sign Cortes and Brazilian full-back Jefte. Rangers would have more options out wide with Cortes, who
is currently at Lens, and Jefte, who is on loan from Fluminense at Cypriot team APOEL, having surfaced as a transfer target over the
weekend.
McKenna completes move to Copenhagen
Scotland’s Scott McKenna, a defender, has completed his loan transfer from Nottingham Forest to FC Copenhagen. The 27-year-old,
who signed with the Danish team and will play Champions League football against Manchester City next month, is eager for consistent
first-team action as he looks to solidify his spot in Steve Clarke’s Euro 2024 squad. McKenna remarked, “I see it as a really good
opportunity for me.”
“FC Copenhagen is a well-known club throughout the world that competes for championships each season and has excelled greatly in
international competition. I’m excited to join the training camp and get to know the team. It’s the ideal place for me to start if I want to
fit in with the group right away. I’ll exert every effort to make sure Copenhagen retains the title once more.
Beck has returned
Owen Beck, a left back for Liverpool, has returned to Dundee on loan for the remainder of the campaign. After scoring twice in 20
games for Dundee, the 21-year-old was called up in January. On January 21, he made his Liverpool debut off the bench against
Bournemouth.
Since players can only play for two clubs in a season, Celtic and Rangers were discouraged from showing interest. Liverpool, on the
other hand, were delighted to let the Wales Under-21 international return to Tayside while fellow left-backs Kostas Tsimikas and Andy
Robertson recovered to full fitness. After the first half of the season that we both experienced together, Beck remarked, “I am made up
to be back.” “At this point, I’m eager to perform in front of the crowd once more. I just wanted to say thank you to all of the Dundee
supporters for their support during the first half of the season. You were amazing to me even after you found out that I was recalled,
but now that I’m back, let’s get to work.
