Glasgow Rangers are still working on a deal for Oscar Cortes, and the Light Blues have disputed concerns that the winger has a past knee injury, according to Chris Jack.

The Rangers Review journalist stated via X on Tuesday (30 January) that Philippe Clement’s side is still attempting to conclude the 20-year-old’s move from Lens and are unconcerned about any potential fitness difficulties early in the season.

Rangers reportedly held overnight talks with the French club about the winger’s loan move, as the two clubs get closer to reaching a deal to bring Cortes to Ibrox before the transfer deadline [Daily Record, January 30].

Jack wrote on X: “Rangers are still working to finalize a contract for Oscar Cortes.

Suggestions of a previous knee injury were disregarded.”

Not to worry.

Every transfer window, it appears that a last-minute agreement falls

through due to a player’s injury that the buying club was previously unaware of,

but this does not appear to be the case in Cortes’ scenario.

Rangers appear unconcerned with the 20-year-old’s previous injury history,

and it appears doubtful that such an issue would jeopardise the deal,

even if revealed during Cortez’s physical as the Gers prepare to finalise the transfer.

Clement like playing with wingers, and to do so well at Ibrox,

the Belgian requires players that flourish in that area of the ground.

Cortez currently does not have many players capable of doing so,

but if a deal can be completed, he will add just that to his roster.

Hopefully, the transfer will go smoothly and without any last-minute injury concerns,

allowing Rangers to complete everything before Thursday’s (1 February) transfer deadline.
