£15m ace joins Italian giants, could pave the way for Rangers man’s Ibrox exit

Italian giants Roma have secured the signing of former Manchester City left-back Angelino in a deal which could open the door for Ridvan Yilmaz to make that much-discussed transfer from Rangers to Galatasaray.

Italian giants Roma have signed former Manchester City left-back Angelino,

which could pave the way for Ridvan Yilmaz’s much

-discussed move from Rangers to Galatasaray.

And, with Rangers reportedly closing in on a deal to bring former Brazil youth ace Jefte to Ibrox,

it is likely that, despite a fine run of form in recent weeks,

Ridvan Yilmaz will be permitted to depart if the price is right sometime over the next fortnight.

Galatasaray remains perhaps Yilmaz’s most likely destination.

Especially after Hellas Verona,

who viewed him as a potential successor for Josh Doig,

signed Ruben Vinagre from Sporting Lisbon instead.

If the door was ajar previously, it could have swung wide open now.

Angelino, RB Leipzig’s £15 million left-back,

was set to continue at Galatasaray until the end of the season after joining on loan in the summer.

However, with Angelino’s temporary contract being finished

(he moved from Istanbul to Roma on Tuesday afternoon),

Galatasaray now has a left-back-shaped void in their team.

A void that Yilmaz could fill.

“When I heard the word Roma, I didn’t hesitate,” recalls Angelino,

a well-traveled Spaniard who had played for PSV Eindhoven and Manchester City.

“Today, I’m proud to be a member of a fantastic club with a rich history and a roster full of champions.

I’m thrilled to meet the coach (Jose Mourinho’s successor, Daniele de Rossi)

and my new teammates and put myself at their disposal.”

Jefte takes over at Ibrox, as Ridvan Yilmaz leaves?
Yilmaz has scored and assisted in his last three Scottish Premiership outings for Rangers.

He scored the first goal in Hibernian’s 3-0 victory,

and he impressed again in Saturday’s hard-fought win over St Mirren.

Jefte’s arrival might potentially open the way for a return to Turkey for the former Besiktas player,

who is allegedly poised to cost Rangers an affordable £400,000.
