Glasgow Rangers are interested in KAA Gent attacker Hugo Cuypers ahead of the February 1 deadline,

but he will not be joining the club this month, according to Sacha Tavolieri.

According to the Belgian journalist, the Ibrox club values the striker,

but his next destination will not be Glasgow this month or in the future.

Cuypers has been outstanding in all competitions this season, scoring 17 goals in 34 games,

including 10 in the Europa Conference League.

He wrote on X: “Hugo Cuypers will not join the Rangers.

“The Scottish club very appreciate the profile of KAA Gent’s striker but I’m told it won’t be his next destination.”

Out of nowhere.

This is one name that has come out of nowhere,

as the last week of the transfer market typically brings some surprises to Ibrox.

It does match the type of what Rangers desire,

with another new striker potentially joining the likes of Mohamed Diomande, Jefte, and Oscar Cortes in Govan.

Philippe Clement will be familiar with Cuypers from his time in Belgium,

and this is the first time we’ve seen a name other than Lawrence Shankland as a prospective new striker.

However, with Cuypers obviously out of the picture, the ties to Shankland strengthen even more.

This is certainly one to monitor in the coming days,

with this update just confirming that Clement and Nils Koppen are on the hunt for another number nine.

Bring it on.
