The Monday Night Celtic Transfer Update from McGowan
According to Stephen McGowan, Celtic wants to add a left-back and a forward before the transfer market shuts on
Thursday.
Despite having a solid track record of Celtic transfers, the Daily Mail correspondent is only able to speculate about
the players’ names and their potential loan from English clubs.
Despite the manager’s December pleas for more talent, Celtic have only added Nicolas Kuhn to their roster after four
weeks of transfer activity this month.
It appears that activity will be focused on the last few hours of the transfer window. McGowan writes tonight in the
Daily Mail:
Brendan Rodgers, the manager, is still searching for a forward and a left full-back, with loans from England
appearing to be the most likely source.
Rocco Vata, a midfielder, is still negotiating a new four-year contract with Celtic.
The 18-year-old, the son of former Parkhead defender Rudi, was said to have turned down the offer on Monday
night, according to a report. However, talks are still ongoing because both parties are eager to come to a consensus.
In all likelihood, Celtic will only have one left-back and one striker available for the upcoming games against
Aberdeen, Hibs, and St. Mirren. With Greg Taylor sidelined due to injury and Japan and South Korea in the Asian
Cup knockout stages, there won’t be many alternatives.
There aren’t many names being connected to a move to Celtic, except from Sydney van Hooijdonk, who has been
linked to a loan deal from Bologna.
