The Dallas Cowboys‘ defensive coaching staff is now in an unusual situation.

At the moment, everything depends on whether the Seattle Seahawks or Washington Commanders prefer Quinn to be their next head coach,

he appears to be a top candidate for both – given that they are the final two teams that have yet to select a new coach.

If Quinn does not receive one of their offers, it seems likely that he will return to Dallas to serve as the Cowboys’ defensive coordinator for a fourth year.

Quinn is no longer the only Cowboys defensive staffer attracting interest from other clubs.

ESPN’s Todd Archer reported on Friday that the Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Rams, and Atlanta Falcons have all indicated interest in hiring defensive line coach Aden Durde.

According to Archer, Durde collaborated with Dan Quinn and Raheem Morris in Atlanta. The former coached the Falcons, and the latter will continue to do so.

Morris’ former squad, however, now has a vacancy at defensive coordinator due to his departure, as do the Packers, following Joe Barry’s firing.

It remains to be seen what jobs each team is interested in Durde for, but if it is the coordinator post, it would be a promotion that the Cowboys could not prevent.

If Dan Quinn is hired as one of the Seahawks’ or Commanders’ coaches, it is reasonable to expect him to bring several defensive staffers with him,

including Durde, creating a hypothetical fourth club. Obviously, if Quinn left, Dallas would have a vacant defensive coordinator position and could consider Durde.
