According to sources, Rangers’ pursuit of a left back may lead them to consider an English defender who was once dubbed “exceptional” by

current Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers.

The futures of Ridvan Yilmaz and Borna Barisic are both uncertain, so the Ibrox club has been looking for a number of full backs this

month. Now, it’s rumored that they are considering a move for Luke Thomas, a star for Leicester City.

In order to get much-needed game time, the 22-year-old left-sided defender was on loan with Sheffield United of the English Premier

League earlier this season. However, after starting just 11 games, he returned to his parent club, and Foxes boss Enzo Maresca is reportedly

happy to send him out on loan. This has reportedly alerted Rangers boss Philippe Clement.

Gijs Smal, David Jurasek, and Cameron Pring have all been heavily linked to moves to Glasgow, but The Daily Mail reports that the Gers are

now aiming to lock up a late deal for Thomas before the transfer window closes in order to increase their options at the back. The player,

who TransMarkt values at £10 million, had earlier in the transfer window received reports of interest from Sunderland, an EFL

Championship team.

Yilmaz, the club’s current left back, scored his first league goal on Wednesday as Rangers defeated Hibs 3-0. However, Yilmaz may return to

his home country of Turkey during the transfer window as Galatasary has expressed a serious interest in the defender.

Erden Timur, the president of Galatasary, stated about Yilmaz: “It is improper to discuss player names, and I am unable to comment on

them. When asked specifically about the 22-year-old full back, Barisic said, “That’s why I cannot answer.” Gazzetta dello Sport had

speculated that AS Roma had made an initial attempt to sign the 31-year-old.
