Finance Expert: Rangers can blow Hearts out of water after new Shankland twist

Dan Plumley has reiterated that if the greatest offer on the table wins, Rangers will reject any deal from Hearts for Lawrence Shankland.

The finance specialist agreed that if it were a straight contest between Hearts and the Bears to persuade Shankland to sign on the dotted line, the Rangers would most likely win.

It follows reports that the Scotland international was given a new deal but declined to sign it, with a move to Ibrox still possible before February 1.

“It’s the reality of Scottish football,” he said exclusively to Ibrox News.

“That’s what the other clubs are up against; they know if they’re putting in offers, but Rangers and Celtic are also looking at those players, with revenue lines of £70-80 million; those two clubs outbid the others.

“That’s not fantastic for the general picture of the league, but I believe the financial truth is that if Rangers wants a transfer target, the biggest offer on the table will come from the bigger club.

“It is then up to the player, of course, where the move goes but if it’s a straight fight between Hearts and Rangers in the market, there is only one winner.”
