Should the Dallas Cowboys Trade for a Top Running Back in the AFC South?

There’s a dilemma facing the Dallas Cowboys’ running back group. After yet another strong campaign as the team’s main rushing

weapon, its star running back Tony Pollard doesn’t seem to be interested in keeping his contract with the organization.

Derrick Henry, though, is open to joining a contender in the hopes of winning his first Super Bowl,

thus this situation presents another chance.

In his article for Cowboys Country, Adam Schultz claims that once free agency begins, the Tennessee Titans running back is starting to

look like a viable addition.

Despite Nashville’s poor offensive line, the 30-year-old Alabama standout proved a formidable opponent. At an average of 4.2 yards

per carry, he finished the season with 1167 running yards on 280 attempts for 12 touchdowns.

Dallas is among the top bets in Vegas to sign the irrepressible running back after the Titans were unable to sign Henry to a long-term

contract. If Pollard decides to walk, his powerful running style will be the ideal substitute.

But if the Dallas Cowboys hope to claim King Henry as their own, they might have to make a strong case. Their offensive line needs a

major overhaul because it only gave Pollard and the other running backs room to rush for 1920 yards and 14 touchdowns, which is

barely an improvement over what Henry’s Titans accomplished the previous season.

They need to sign or draft impact players on the O-line if they want to attract a dominant rusher like Henry to the team.

If Henry doesn’t seem like the solution to their issues, they’ll check the draft to find someone to replace Pollard.

Come April, Michigan running back Blake Corum is proposed by Yardbarker’s Clark Dalton as Pollard’s apparent successor. In his

final season, the Michigan Wolverine amassed 1245 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns, making him a blur on the field. Many Dallas

Cowboys supporters will be reassured by his strong running style that they won’t miss Pollard as much.

However, until the offseason gets underway, we have no idea which way the Cowboys will decide to go.
