Bears ask Eric Washington of the Bills to interview for the position of defensive coordinator.
According to Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports, the Chicago Bears have asked to speak with Eric Washington, the assistant head coach
and defensive lineman for the Buffalo Bills, about filling the position of defensive coordinator.
It’s that time of year again: hiring season and coaching interviews.
As previously said, Washington has already had coaching experience with Chicago. Actually, he was employed as a defensive assistant
in Chicago in 2008, and he was subsequently elevated to the position of defensive line coach in 2010.
After that, he worked as a defensive line coach for almost ten years with the Carolina Panthers, serving as defensive coordinator for the
final two seasons, until joining head coach Sean McDermott’s staff in 2020. Washington was elevated to assistant head coach this past
summer.
Some Bills fans seem to have mixed feelings on Washington’s overall role and impact with Buffalo but considering Chicago just filled
its offensive coordinator position not too long ago, it wouldn’t be surprising to see a sense of urgency when it comes to the defensive
coordinator vacancy.
