Conflicting reports emerge about Hearts eyeing free agent amid ‘fear’ over Rangers target Shankland

Although Lys Mousset’s future is unclear, Rangers could be planning a late move for Heart of Midlothian forward Lawrence Shankland.

Wednesday night, Rangers defeated Hibernian 3-0, and with the arrival of Mohamed Diomande, a midfielder from Nordsjaelland, they are

almost certain to make a second January acquisition.

Considering that Danilo and Kemar Roofe are both out due to injury, Philippe Clement may still wish to add more players.

When you consider that Rangers may pursue one more striker despite the arrival of Fabio Silva and the departure of Sam Lammers to

Utrecht.

Hearts switching to replace Rangers target is confusing. Lawrence Shankland

Lawrence Shankland is one of the prominent names that has recently been linked.

This season, the 28-year-old has scored 18 goals across all competitions, and he is still leading Hearts’ attack.

Shankland, who has always supported the Rangers, has recently been strongly linked to a move to Ibrox.

Just last week, reports surfaced from Sky Sports indicating Rangers are considering signing Shankland, and a deal is thought to be possible

provided certain players move on first.

Shankland has a reported price tag of £3 million, and Rangers supporters may have been getting excited due to rumors that Hearts may

have found a suitable substitute.

According to Alan Nixon of The Sun, Lys Mousset is a possible signing for Hearts “because they fear the loss” of Shankland before the

deadline.

Hearts were reportedly interested in Mousset, who was released by Bundesliga team VfL Bochum earlier this month,

making him a free agent.

The 27-year-old needs a new team after playing for Sheffield United and Bournemouth in English football; however, the Hearts rumors

have already been refuted.

According to Joel Sked of Hearts Standard, Mousset is not a target for Hearts and is not expected to visit Tynecastle anytime soon.

Regarding Shankland’s future, these contradictory rumors simply serve to cast doubt on it. Are the Hearts considering any possible

successors?

Rangers may think so, even if Mousset isn’t their guy, but if Clement and company want Shankland, they should place their proposal now

rather than waiting till the last minute. Time is running out.
