Ibrox Sources: Rangers finalise new signing after Koppen's extensive background checks

On the latest episode of Football Insider’s Insider Track Podcast,

transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the 22-year-old will become the Gers’ second acquisition of the month.

Well-placed sources told Football Insider that boss Philippe Clement has “high expectations”

of the FC Nordsjaelland midfielder,

who cost the club £4.5million.

Clement and Ibrox recruitment manager Nils Koppen are thought to have conducted significant study and

background checks on the Ivory Coast under-21 before making their move.

Diomande is set to become the club’s first permanent acquisition this month,

following the loan signing of Fabio Silva from Wolves earlier in the window.

Diomande has received glowing reviews in the Danish top division and has five assists in 21 games this season.

He has made 111 appearances for FC Nordsjaelland in all competitions,

scoring 13 goals and assisting 14 times.

Clement is eager to bring in additional recruits before the window closes,

but may have to move players off their books first.

Rangers remain second in the Scottish Premiership after a 3-0 victory over Hibernian on Wednesday evening (January 24).

Their next league match is against St Mirren on Saturday afternoon (January 27).

In other news, sources say the Rangers are in talks to sell the 22-year-old star,

with a fresh price tag revealed.

Rangers may sell left-back Ridvan Yilmaz this month if they receive an offer of £3-4 million,

according to Football Insider (20 January).

There is substantial interest from Italian clubs and Turkish giants Galatasaray.

While some have speculated that Rangers may be unable to pay the sum required to bring the 28-year-old out of Tynecastle in January,

Sunday Mail chief football writer Guidi remains optimistic that a deal can be completed.
