Rangers agree to pay whatever it takes for new signing, sell-on clause tied in – report

Rangers have decided to pay whatever it takes to sign Mohammed Diomande from FC Nordsjaelland, according to Tipsbladet.

As reported online by the Dutch news outlet (24 January), the Gers have agreed to pay a fee of £5.7million to sign the 22-year-old.

In addition to this sum, the deal includes a sell-on provision that will pay FC Nordsjaelland a portion of any profit Rangers make on the player through a future transfer.

Diomande has started 12 Superliga games this season and assisted three goals for his team,

which is currently fifth in the division.

The Rangers’ willingness to go to any length to complete this transaction demonstrates how much they believe in the player.

Philippe Clement will be overjoyed that he is being supported during the January transfer window with a fee of about £6 million,

a big lot of money for the club to invest at this stage of the season.

Diomande is a central midfielder who can also play farther forward, and has an eye for goal,

having scored 13 times while also giving 14 assists in 111 games for FC Nordsjaelland.

The youngster, who has yet to make his debut for the Ivory Coast national team,

will hope that this move would help him advance in his career,

while Clement will try to help Rangers rise above Celtic in the Scottish Premiership,

with the Belgians five points behind the league leaders with a game in hand.

New signings will be critical in the title battle,

and this is undoubtedly a message of intent from the club’s ownership.

In other Rangers news, the club has chosen whether or not to sell one of its players following the match against Hibernian.

While some have speculated that Rangers may be unable to pay the sum required to bring the 28-year-old out of Tynecastle in January, Sunday Mail chief football writer Guidi remains optimistic that a deal can be completed.
