Fabrizio Romano claims Rangers are now trying to sign 22-year-old Ajax player

Rangers have been linked with so many left backs in this January transfer window and yet none have signed.

Some confusion has been brought up by one name: according to reports from the Netherlands,

Rangers have made an attempt to recruit FC Twente left defender Gijs Smal.

There will be no deal for Smal this month, according to the Scottish media,

who are convinced that Rangers have no interest in him at all.

But Rangers might still consider the Dutch market, as a new team is rumored to be moving to Ibrox this afternoon.

Rangers are drawn to Ajax players Salah-Eddine, Anass

Rangers are reportedly interested in Ajax left back Anass Salah-Eddine, according to Fabrizio Romano.

According to Romano, Rangers might be Salah-Eddine’s final destination if

Ajax decides to loan him out till the end of the year.Salah-Eddine is reportedly the target of “several clubs,”

and Torino is prepared to compete Rangers for his services.

Romano notes that nothing has been agreed just yet but we could see movement on

Salah-Eddine’s future before next week’s transfer deadline.

Salah-Eddine hails from Amsterdam but only joined the Ajax ranks at 16 having

previously been in the AZ Alkmaar youth setup. After impressing for the Jong Ajax side,

Salah-Eddine stepped up to first-team level but has only ever made 10 senior appearances for Ajax.

Salah-Eddine has only played six league games this season and none since a seven-minute

substitute appearance against Vitesse Arnhem in November.

It may now be time for Salah-Eddine to go out on loan again as he spent last season with Twente,

ironically offering competition for the aforementioned Smal.

Salah-Eddine can also play in midfield and the 22-year-old will be a talent on Nils Koppen’s

radar given his knowledge of the Dutch game.

Rangers may now push to land Salah-Eddine on loan and potentially pave the way for

Ridvan Yilmaz to move on, but a battle with Torino could make things tricky in the coming days.
