Rangers in talks to sell player who will start v Hibernian tonight – report

According to Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, Ridvan Yilmaz will start for Rangers against

Hibs while the club continues to negotiate his sale.

The Sports Digitale writer wrote on Twitter on January 24th, ahead of the trip to Easter Road,

that the Light Blues are still in talks about a potential sale, but no agreement has been reached.

He had claimed earlier that day that the Turkish full-back had turned down

the opportunity to join Hellas Verona in Serie A.

According to Sabuncuoğlu, Rangers and Galatasaray are still negotiating for Rıdvan Yılmaz.

However, Galatasaray has yet to make an official offer.

Rıdvan will start the Hibernian encounter tonight in the opening eleven.

Faith

Philippe Clement is starting the 22-year-old despite his future being as uncertain at Ibrox as

it has been in the 18 months since he arrived from Besiktas,

demonstrating his faith in Ridvan’s approach.

When asked about the same subject ahead to the Scottish Cup victory against Dumbarton on January 20,

the manager said that players might still go even if they are currently playing,

but as long as their focus is correct, he is secure in employing them.

It’s odd that, despite speculation about a return to Turkey throughout his time at Ibrox,

the prospect appears to be most serious right now, when he’s playing his best for the club.

The run of five consecutive starts in all competitions is arguably some of

the strongest performances Rangers have got from Yilmaz,

aside from his finish to last season under Michael Beale which proved to be a false dawn.

Assuming he keeps fit, if he does not leave this month, he may finally be able to establish himself as a regular starter.

Borna Barisic, who was linked with a departure following the Cup win,

has been injured recently but has consistently maintained the number one spot,

so the upcoming week will be critical in determining whether he can do so again.

In other Rangers news, a transfer window update confirms that another attacker will leave this month.
