Last week, the Golden State Warriors’ assistant coach, Dejan Milojevic, 46, passed away. It was a blow to the basketball team and

other rather inconsequential things. According to reports, Milojevic had a heart attack at a team meal in Utah.

The Warriors confirmed his passing the next morning.

In the days since, the Warriors have had two games postponed, first against the Utah Jazz on the road and then at home against the

Dallas Mavericks, in the wake of Milojevic’s death.

As they get ready to play the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night to start their season again, the club has now disclosed, at least in

part, how they intend to pay tribute to their late coach. Warriors PR on X, the social media network formerly known as Twitter, reports

that the team has stated that they will have an image carrying the initials “DM” on both their jerseys and their court for the duration of

the season (via Clutchpoints on X).

Dejan Milojevic had been a good basketball player in his own right earlier in his career, having played for several European teams for

almost twenty years. After that, he worked as a coach all over the world, and he played a significant role in the rise of contemporary

European NBA players, such as Nikola Jokic, the MVP of the NBA Finals.

Milojevic became the second Serbian assistant coach to win an NBA title when he joined the Warriors in 2021 and helped lead the

team to their most recent NBA Finals victory in 2022.
