Philippe Clement reacts to Rangers mentality claim from Neil Lennon insisting Celtic hero has HELPED him
In response to Neil Lennon’s assertion that his Rangers team lacks the attitude to defeat Celtic, Philippe Clement complimented him for inspiring his teammates.
With the exception of the one season the Gers won the Premiership under Steven Gerrard, the former Hoops captain and manager
asserted that the Light Blues had not yet demonstrated they possess the strength to dethrone their opponents who have dominated
Scottish football over the previous 12 years. With two games remaining, the Ibrox team, who has already won the Viaplay Cup this
season, trails the lead in the championship race by eight points.
However, Lennon questioned their temperament, implying that the Belgian would have to bring in players with a strong mentality to
retaliate in the struggle for supremacy. Clement answered questions regarding the remarks made during his press conference today.
He said: “I am happy people outside of the club help to motivate my players. I now need to put less time into that myself. The players
have shown a lot of mentality in the last couple of months.
“They accomplished that even with ten players at Celtic Park. So far, we are unable to discuss mentality in that manner.
“In the upcoming months, we just need to confirm that.”
Lennon told PLZ Soccer yesterday: “They still haven’t got that mentality yet of squashing that hold that Celtic have over them and they
need to break that if they’re going to win the league.”And in order to accomplish that,
they must either add players with higher caliber or better mentalities.”
