Mike McCarthy’s Career is on The Line in 2024

Adam Schefter reports that the Cowboys have decided not to renew head coach Mike McCarthy’s contract, as was predicted.

Thus, in 2024, McCarthy will begin the last year of his contract.

Jerry Jones enjoys doing this a lot.

Make someone earn a new contract; McCarthy is the target of his current campaign, as he did with Jason Garrett.

In the last year of his contract, Garrett finished 12-4.

It’s a strange circumstance; he shouldn’t have been brought back in the first place.

McCarthy must at least lead the Cowboys to an NFC championship game if he hopes to coach anyplace after 2024.

Not only would he leave the Cowboys early in the playoffs if he chokes, but he might not be able to coach again.

It is a simple fact that he will not go to another team and succeed there if he is unable to win there with the talent he have in Dallas.

I was all for Dak Prescott receiving an extension this year, until he did what he did again in the postseason. It appears that Prescott will likely receive one.

Buy Into What?

With 28 seasons remaining in the Cowboys’ Super Bowl drought, big Mike stated on Wednesday that his team still has “work to do.” McCarthy also implored supporters to “buy into us.”

McCarthy, why the devil should we still believe you?

Every season yields the same outcome.

We have no more faith in you after four years of saying the same things.

I’m tired of “buying in,” and I don’t care about the 36 regular season victories over the previous three years. You can’t win when it counts.

Jerry Jones got a GOLDEN chance to see Jim Harbaugh and Bill Belichick.

remained with McCarthy instead. It pained me to see the news.

McCarthy’s career

McCarthy’s career is in jeopardy in 2024 because the Cowboys are the only team with the talent he can locate.

He has won multiple championships, but only one with Aaron Rodgers, whether you like it or not.

With Dallas, he has only won one postseason game thus far.

When they first hired him, I assumed he was a great hire.

By that, I mean they would bring in someone new after having him for a few years.

And yet, here we are, experiencing failure after failure and repeating the process.

I’m not the general manager or anything, but this club has too much quality to fail.

I would stop at nothing to get Derrick Henry during the off-season.

At last, the absence of a running game got the better of them.

They frightened no one if CeeDee Lamb wasn’t having a field day.

I regret that today’s football game featuring the Cowboys isn’t one we can see.

It’s going to be an exciting off-season.

Dallas needs to address a number of issues, including the roster and possibly finding a Dan Quinn replacement.

McCarthy will undoubtedly continue to call plays; he wanted to be the man running the offense.

Stephon Gilmore and Brandin Cooks must return to the team.

For the sake of cap space, they could cut both, but things would only get worse.

McCarthy sitting on the bench again this year is not something I am looking forward to.

The only way it can be salvaged is if he truly prevails when it counts.
