Goodnews: Aagreement reached as Rangers beat Trabzonspor in race to sign Mohamed Diomande
Rangers have beaten Turkish outfit Trabzonspor in the race to sign FC Nordsjælland midfielder Mohamed Diomande,
according to Taka Gazete. The Turkish news outlet shared on Sunday (21 January) that Trabzonspor who
are currently third in the Turkish Super Lig had been tracking the
talented midfielder for some time but Rangers have swooped in to reach an agreement to sign the 22-year-old.
The Turkish side are now expected to turn their attention elsewhere in the transfer market as they accept defeat in
the race to sign Diomande with Four Lads reporting (21 January) that the deal could be completed in a matter of days.
Stunning arrival
Rangers have only gone and picked up a major coup in the transfer market and just the kind of
talent Philippe Clement needs in order to bolster his midfield ranks at Ibrox.
For a number of years now, Diomande has been one of the most prized midfield assets in Denmark
and it’s been a real surprise that none of the well-renowned clubs in Europe have picked him up yet.
At just 22 years old, and having played 13 times for Nordsjaelland this season where he picked up three assists,
Rangers have a real exciting talent on their hands with Diomande.
A midfielder has always been high on the list of priorities at Ibrox this January as a result of the issues they have faced with squad depth and
injuries to key players, often leading to Dujon Sterling filling in outside of his usual right-back position.
Diomande arrives at Ibrox with burgeoning promise and the potential to be an instant hit and fan-favourite amongst the Rangers supporters
possessing tremendous technical ability, vision and a workhorse-like mentality that the Gers have needed for a long while now.
It looks set to be a busy end to the window at Ibrox, with a new left-back and striker still wanted by Rangers but this Diomande pick-up should
really excite the Light Blues fanbase as they look to continue their upward trajectory under Clement’s management. Tremendous deal.
